The Royal Albert Hall stands with the most iconic and acclaimed buildings in London, and hosts the world’s most acclaimed orchestras, ballets, musicians and artists in the world.
Since January 2011, rhubarb have been at the Royal Albert Hall providing all food and drink at one of the world’s most iconic venues. The operation consists of 3 dining spaces: Verdi Italian Kitchen, Coda by Eric Chavot, Elgar Bar and Grill, 14 bars, 1 retail outlet, 147 hospitality boxes and offers seated dinners for up to 2000 guests on a special raised floor in the auditorium.
We are recruiting a self-motivated Bars Manager, who is ready for a new professional challenge in this bespoke Premium environment.
Job role
Reporting into Head of Bars you will oversee all aspects of the day to day management of all 14 bars to ensure that the team deliver the rhubarb product in quality, consistency and presentation and also within the financial parameters of the annual budget.
You will recruit, Identify, define and retain key talent within Bar segments by ensuring adequate succession planning and career progression, training programs in collaboration with Human Resources and senior management team.
You are able to inspire, motivate and lead a diverse bars team accounting for more than 60 staff members implementing sales initiatives and enhancing up-selling techniques as well ensuring they adhere and meet the standards/values of rhubarb.
You will ensure the smooth running of all public bars, have a clear understanding of Hostess Drinks Service and you will be responsible on working in other areas of the hall such as the loading bay and catering corridors.
You will be in charge of managing the beverage cost of sale across the contract against budgeted margins and control all aspects of the cellar, stock holding and security of stock, being well acquainted with the MS office outline, Micros and purchasing programs as well as Rota management on a large scale.
Be able to tightly control the stock, the cash managements and staff product knowledge.
You will be ensure adequate cash handling procedures are in place and investigate any discrepancies accordingly.
Partake and attend all meetings with management of all levels of the business.
Being able to resolve in a prompt and timely manner customer issues and provide adequate solutions.
Candidate profile
Your past working experience and educational background will provide a close fit with rhubarb’s commitment to quality, style and flair whilst delivering an outstanding customer service exceeding the set expectations of our clientele.
You will have proven track records within a similar work environment of event catering management or 5 star hotel or event venue management. Have good planning, time management, negotiation and organisational skills at operations level.
You will be an excellent team player, able to communicate at all levels and commit to sharing your knowledge and skills within our planners brigade.
You are preferably certified in H and S; Level 2 and Food Safety Level 2 and be an accredited Personal licence holder or this training will be provided.
You should possess intermediate MS office skills and have previous working experience of Micros POS systems.
Flexible within your working hours you are able to commit to late evening and weekend work.
