We are looking for an amazing receptionist to join us in our luxury art boutique star hotel in South Kensington. Recently opened in November 2014, we are a very unusual hotel filled with art and new experiences. We have 33 rooms and 4 Suites – 2 penthouse Suites and 2 Suites with their own private pools! Our amazing rooms come with Hypnos mattresses (same as the Queen uses…), iPads in all the rooms, underfloor heating and enormous bathtubs – to name just a few of the great things with which we spoil our guests to make sure they have a fantastic time with us.
• Our fantastic receptionist work in shift-patterns, 5 days on and 2 days off.
• This is a full-time, permanent position of 40 hours per week.
• 20 days holiday plus bank holidays.
• Meals on duty.
• Uniform is provided and dry-cleaning of the uniform.
• The salary start from £16,000 to £17,000 depending on experience.
• Commissions from car companies and tour operators go straight to the front office team.
• We offer great incentives for great service with cash rewards for each time your name is on Tripadvisor. There is also an upselling scheme in place, on which you get commissions.
• We have a permanent night team, so there would not be any night shifts as part of this role (unless there is ever a massive emergency and we need your help). The shifts timings are usually 07.00-15.30 or 14.30-23.00. We sometimes also have a middle shift from 10.00 onwards, depending on staff levels.
We will do everything we can to make sure you are enjoying every moment at the hotel, and we expect you to do the same for our guests.
The typical duties include;
- 'Checking in’ and 'Checking out’ guests and take payment for their accommodation.
- Making sure that the guests understand how everything works in their room and that they are well-settled.
- Responsible for the safety and security of guests in house and ensuring that all Health and Safety regulations are met when there is no management present.
- Help to advice guest of how to make the most of their time in London and at the hotel, helping to book any restaurants or arrangements they would like.
- To maintain a high standard in personal appearance and demeanor.
- We have an automated reservation system, but some of our regular guests prefer to book directly with us by phone or email so you would need to assist them.
We give you the ability to make decisions and we expect you to take responsibility for the consequences – good and bad! Professional growth is important to us all, surely you are not one to hide behind the reception desk all day…?
At our hotel, we spend all day doing hospitality yoga: are you willing and able to stand on your head (not literally!) for our guests in order to make them happy? Are you willing to invest your time and energy to the success of the hotel and your colleagues?
From time to time we may ask you to perform other reasonable tasks, but we also expect you to seek these out yourself – can you take a food order from hungry guests? Are you willing to grow and develop?
