Hopscotch is a 45 cover dining room and 60 cover drinking den on Brick Lane.
We think that the time people spend in bars and restaurants is really important to them: it’s the third space between someone’s London flat and their boring office job, and we owe it to our customers to make sure they have a great time every time they come in.
So Hopscotch is about forgetting the wanky bits and focusing on getting the important stuff right: great music, great food and great drinks in a wonderful environment. We can't do any of that without great people and so we're looking for a brilliant head chef to work with us to develop our menu further and run our small kitchen. We're about sharing plates and our food is light, bright and simple. It's feel good food not dude food so technical skill and understanding of the best ingredients is key. We mostly cook over oak and coal, and the head chef will have lots of creative freedom (and will work directly with the owners on new ideas): we want you to have a sense of ownership over all aspects of the business and think you'll have a lot more fun cooking your own food than just cooking what we think is good.
We're after a positive person who has a commitment to excellence and a great palate. We're obsessed with excellence and you need to be too: we take nothing for granted and like to work together to compare, test and try new things to make sure we have the best product possible. There's always room for improvement and there's always a better way of doing things, so we like people who are open to ideas and working as a team.
