Niche is an independent restaurant serving a 100% gluten-free menu with a modern twist right next to Sadler's Wells Theatre in Angel, Islington. We make everything on site using fresh ingredients and have a growing online and social media presence commending us on our food and service.
Our Head Chef is relocating so we want to start looking now for his successor. Niche is a small but extremely busy restaurant, with a great and hard-earned reputation.
Our new Head Chef must be enthusiastic, driven and personable with a real passion for food. Knowledge of what makes good gluten-free food would be advantageous, but not essential as support and guidance will be given. You will though be expected to lead, motivate and supervise the kitchen team, taking full responsibility for food storing, preparation, production, cooking and service to the restaurant. You will also responsible for the training and development of kitchen team members, administration of new starters, ensuring all team members are compliant with regards to food safety, H and S and other related polices.
You will be managing a small but dedicated team of full time chefs and we would consider an experienced Sous Chef looking for his/her first kitchen of their own. We will be looking for a MINIMUM of 2 years similar or Sous Chef level experience in a busy kitchen and you must be available to work over the Christmas period.
A generous and achievable performance bonus is offered on top of the salary shown. We are also looking for another restaurant to grow Niche and this will be an ideal opportunity to get in early in our development and be a part of its growth and success!
Essentials:
1) You must have had at least 2 years experience in a restaurant kitchen at Head Chef or Sous Chef level and 5 years in the industry.
2) You must be able to multitask, work all areas of the kitchen and be cool under pressure.
3) Lead and train your team to the standards expected.
4) You must be willing to get Stuck in and get the job done!
5) You must understand your Food Hygiene and H and S due diligence responsibilities and ensure these are completed diligently and understood by all members of the team.
6) You must have the right to work in the UK and be able to communicate effectively in English.
