About Us:
Located in leafy Dulwich up on Sydenham Hill, the Wood House is the perfect rural escape in busy, urban South East London. We are a beautiful cosy pub that is famous for our Sunday roast large beer garden and open roaring fires during the winter. We have also just had a canopy installed in our beautiful beer garden which covers half the space. This has provided us with an exciting new space for our customers to enjoy all the way through the winter. The Wood House is one of the select pubs within Young’s that has its own Burger Shack, which sells a delicious selection of burgers to our garden users. Within the pub we host to multiple unique spaces which have been created for people to enjoy, each celebrating the fact that the Wood House was once the home of Joseph Paxton, the esteemed architect of The Crystal Palace. In particular our gorgeous conservatory space which overlooks the garden is one of our most popular, versatile spaces in which we hold Birthday parties, weddings, meetings, engagement parties, christenings and celebration of life events. This results in the pub being busy right through the week with an interesting array of events to keep the staff busy. We have an amazing team here at the Wood House, and offer great training and opportunities for progression within the company. Fronted by the general manager, Anna she is currently looking for our team to gain a new member and join the Wood House family. What we offer our Sous Chefs;
- Alongside your Head Chef – autonomy to create your own menu’s and specials.
- Up to £27000 per annum
- 28 Days holiday per year
- Average working hours will be 48 per week.
- 20% Discount in all Young’s and Geronimo pubs and hotels.
- Access to our Apprenticeship Scheme, development programs and Chef Academy.
What we look for in a Sous Chef;
We are looking for an existing Sous Chef or Senior CDP looking for their next step, who considers themselves as a natural leader with a passion and flare for producing quality fresh food in an environment that makes people feel welcome. As the successful Sous Chef you will:
- Have experience championing excellent service through quality food.
- Demonstrate a passion for leading and developing a team.
- Be an active hands-on Chef with excellent communication skills.
- Be responsible and able to manage the kitchen staff Rota, training and all health and safety effectively at all times.
- Working alongside your Head Chef you will be able to demonstrate your creativity and ability by helping to design and deliver new dishes for our menus and daily specials.
- Demonstrate great planning and organisational skills, necessary to maintain effective controls with regard to both General Practitioner and labour.
- Have a pro-active approach to driving sales and delivering growth, through engagement with both kitchen and front of house teams.
