Restaurant Supervisor Vacancy - BBC CLUB
The BBC Club provides recreational, social and leisure services, facilities and activities to its members, made up of staff and partners of the BBC. With two sites across London much of the activity is centered on the Club’s restaurant / bar outlets.
We are currently looking for an experienced and motivated Supervisor to work in our central London site at Great Portland Street. This role is a full time position based on 40 hours a week and requires evening and sometimes weekend work so flexibility is essential. The BBC Club caters for the BBC people and events and it is busy but fun environment.
To be considered, you need:
• Considerable experience working in a restaurant/bar environment at a supervisory level
• experience organising and managing events and corporate hospitality
• experience with cashing up and banking
• Strong people skills including communication and delegation
• Fantastic customer service skills
• A positive, can-do attitude
• Excellent presentation and timekeeping
• A solid command of English
• Documentation supporting your eligibility to work in England
• An active bank account

Time: 40 hours per week – mostly Mon-Fri
Purpose of the role
Reporting to the Club Manager, this role requires flexibility across food and beverage operations and a multi-tasking, customer-focused approach to service delivery. The Supervisor is responsible for leading the shift and for performance and legal / H and S requirements during the shift. This role is also responsible for managing events and hospitality while on shift.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Management
Assisting with the management of the food (and, where applicable, bar and cellar) operations, including but not limited to ordering and control of stock, cash reconciliation, staff Rota and maintenance of equipment.
Assisting with the promotion of the Club, including co-ordinating functions and leading on taking and coordinating hospitality bookings.
Ensuring 100% adherence to membership controls during a shift.
Leading by example the FBAs in delivering service in line with Club standards during a shift.
Dealing with or delegating routine problems and enquiries which arise on a shift, deliveries, ordering and communication.
Training and supporting FBAs in their duties; actively demonstrating enthusiasm for the job and for the Club’s customers.
Reporting any operational or staff problems to a more senior manager.
Ensuring a proper and complete handover is made to the incoming Shift Leader, or that the premises are secured for close of business
2. Customer Service
Preparation and service of food to include kitchen and restaurant based tasks
Service of drinks, including preparation of hot drinks and table service
Setting-up, tidying and cleaning of preparation and service areas
Taking payment for food and drink and making up bills
Delivering pro-active customer service with a smile
Maximising sales and promoting membership and offers
Ensuring effective communication;
Ensure that staff work within the Club’s rules and regulations at all times
Motivating team through positive role modelling
3. Sales and Marketing
Supporting the Membership function in achieving the Club’s business objectives, specifically helping to meet monthly membership targets
4. Legal and Policy Responsibilities
Ensuring adherence to all statutory and Club requirements in respect of fire, health and safety, hygiene, licence, security and insurance during a shift.
5. Ad Hoc duties
Deputise for Club Manager when on leave
Being flexible to meet business needs by working late evenings, weekends and other London Club sites as necessary
Carrying out any reasonable request made by the Club Manager or Senior Management Team
