Reporting to the Digital and Production Director, this role is an excellent first step into the world of publishing. The role focuses primarily on supporting the production of our printed and digital publications, but also providing assistance to our sales team, and getting involved in local events. The successful candidate will be introduced to the fast-paced publishing industry and through their work will gain deep understanding of the processes involved, and experience dealing directly with many of the situations faced by publishers of any description. The role also offers much opportunity to build experience in the digital sphere, with hands on experience publishing articles online and working with social media in a business setting. Full training will be provided for all aspects of this role.
The areas of responsibility for this role are:
Provide administrative support for the production and distribution of Time and Leisure’s publications, ensuring that records are kept up-to-date, and key materials and information are promptly supplied to the right people in the right format.
Assist with Time and Leisure’s digital activities, publishing new articles to the website as they are produced and performing other related digital tasks (full training provided)
Assist with proofing of content before publication, both in print and digitally.
Online research and information gathering.
Provide support as needed for Time and Leisure’s other activities, such as events run by and/or attended by the business.
Organise, attend and participate in key meetings, taking and distributing minutes.
Act as first point of contact for inbound phone calls and visitors to the business.
Ensure visitors to the business are welcomed and provided for.
Liaise with Time and Leisure’s clients to ensure required materials and information are received on schedule.
Ensure office supplies and facilities are sufficiently stocked, and ordered at competitive prices.
Ensure all areas of the office are kept in a presentable, organised state.
While this role requires no direct prior experience and is suitable as a first job, the following skills and attributes are essential for the successful candidate.
Excellent attention to detail
Highly organised
Friendly, professional manner at all times, both in person and over the telephone.
High degree of comfort with computers and the internet.
experience using Microsoft Word and Excel.
Excellent written and spoken English
Local knowledge of South West London and Surrey gained from living in the area is also an advantage.
Location: The role is full time (Mon-Fri 9am-5.30pm) based from our offices in South Wimbledon. Salary: £16k.
