Gunpowder, a vibrant, home-style independent restaurant group in East London, is looking for a full-time Pastry Chef.
We are looking for an experienced Head/Senior Sous Pastry Chef to work in one of our restaurants to prepare a variety of homemade desserts, including cakes, bread, pastries, tarts and other fare.
Our Pastry Chef will manage daily kitchen activities, including: overseeing bakery staff; ensuring food quality and freshness; monitoring ordering and stocking; and ensuring that all kitchen activities are within budget and are in line with health and safety standards. They are responsible for ensuring that the quality and consistency of all bakery items are at the highest standard by following designated recipes, as well as preparing decoration and presentation of bakery items.
Our Pastry Chef will also work with the Group Executive Head Chef to help with menu preparation, pricing, ordering, stocking and budgeting, as well as creating new and exciting desserts and other bakery foods to revamp menus.
To be successful in this role you will have proven experience as a Pastry Chef, baker or other relevant role; great attention to detail and creativity; experience in managing other kitchen staff; in depth knowledge of health and safety and kitchen sanitation; and a working knowledge of baking according to special dietary requirements eg. Gluten-free/sugarless.
