As the name might suggest, South Place Chop House takes inspiration from London’s traditional establishments – marrying good food with engaging service and a great atmosphere. Residing in The City of London, between Moorgate and Liverpool Street, an area once famed for its Chop Houses, the offering is a refinement of the conventional 18th Century venues. This ground floor restaurant has been modernised for contemporary tastes and sensibilities.
Menus are uncomplicated but ever changing, dedicated to seasonal and carefully sourced cuts of meat and freshly caught fish, modernised with continental flavours and seasoning. Cooking is skilled and gutsy, it’s food to return to: tasty, satisfying and wholesome. Stacks of classic copper pans, artwork by Thorbjørn Andersen and a choice of intimate banquette seating as well as larger, communal tables, set the scene. At the weekend the Chop House becomes a social spot. Brunches on Saturday include free-flowing bubbles alongside midday classics. On Sundays a traditional roast is served with crisp coated potatoes and Pert veg. We like to keep both wine glasses and gravy boats continually Topped up.
South Place Chop House is part of a collection of Chop Houses by D and D London, operating alongside Paternoster Chop House and Butler’s Wharf Chop
Role:
We are looking for a passionate Commis Chef who can confidently deliver exceptional, 5 star service to guests. At the same time, our Commis Chef will have the passion to want to learn food knowledge and skills to support the brigade and help lead a section during service. We are looking for ambitious Commis Chef who want to impress and climb the ranks within the brigade.
What we are looking for:
Plenty of energy and enthusiasm; as well as a whole-hearted commitment to the kitchen and the team
An ambitious and career focused chef.
Real pride and passion for what you do.
A desire to succeed through hard work.
Knowledge of local and international food ingredients.
Previous experience of working in a similar role as Commis Chef in a busy restaurant environment.
Overall you will have bags of personality, enthusiasm and a can-do attitude.
