About Us
We are a small cafe (open 12pm-7pm) with only 3 chefs. We have an international reputation with other branches in Tokyo, Paris and New York! Our customers are loyal and discerning and there are a number of high-profile people who visit. We serve seasonal mains, quiches, soups and salads. We mainly serve fish and look for elegant flavours and presentation. We have high standards but we aren't pretentious. We have recently changed venue and are making efforts to increase the overall standard of the restaurant so this is a very exciting time to get involved with the company.
The Role
You will be the commis chef (or chef-de-partie depending on experience) but will have a lot of responsibility. We don't use recipes here and require our chefs to be creative and willing to learn. The menu changes daily so you will be assisting the head-chef in menu writing and idea generation- we want someone passionate!
The Logistics
Shifts are 8am-5pm, 5 days a week. You will be required to work weekends, although you will be able to request weekends off and we are very flexible.
The start date is June 16th but for the right candidate we are willing to wait for your current contract to end.
Once a month we cater high-end fashion events which are always a lot of fun, and the whole team will have input into the menu. You may be required to work these events.
Your salary is negotiable based on experience but it is above competitive. You are paid for overtime if you are required to work late (on an evening event).
Overall
This would be an excellent role for either someone experienced looking for sociable hours (there is potential for a chef-de-partie role as well) or someone who is looking for a more relaxed and experimental atmosphere in which to train. Because our menu changes daily there are always new techniques and flavours to work with and perfect.
