David, aged 9, and his family are looking for a wonderful new Support Worker. David is a very happy and sociable child who responds well to sociable and engaging people and gentle and creative interaction. David enjoys messy and sensory play and loves music; especially sound books. He loves being read to, spoken to and being part of whatever is going on. David has Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, Dystonic Spasms and is PEG fed. He is non-verbal and is fully dependent on others for all of his personal care, transfers and mobilisation in his wheelchair. David is fed and has his medication administered via a gastrostomy.
This job will suit a Support Worker with excellent experience of manual handling, hoisting and pressure area care. David’s seizures are short, but it is essential that you have good epilepsy and medical experience to best support his needs. You will collect David from school and support him with his after school routine and help get him ready for bed.
The family are Lithuanian and it would be beneficial if the Support Worker spoke Lithuanian too, though this is not essential.
