Rhubarb are looking for an exceptional Sous Chef to join our talented team at Gallery Mess at The Saatchi Gallery in Chelsea.
Gallery Mess is operated by rhubarb and is a café/restaurant/bar located at Duke of York’s Headquarters in Chelsea. Both the interior and the outside terrace are breath-taking spaces and feature some of the Gallery’s most fabulous contemporary art. Gallery Mess serves a delicious marriage of food and art all day and is a superb evening venue too, with a stunning bar serving classic cocktails.
Job role
In collaboration with the Head Chef and the kitchen team you will ensure consistency of producing bespoke menus, dishes as per our customer needs for the restaurant and PDR (Private Dining room) events.
As Sous Chef you will ensure the on-going training and support to junior kitchen staff by counselling and supporting them throughout their professional development.
You are responsible for maintaining good food hygiene practices and due diligence as designated by legislation and the companies’ specification to include all HACCP recording and documentation.
You will be assisting the Head Chef in designing and developing menus, creating new recipes and consistently raising the bar.
Candidate profile
The ideal Sous Chef will have a proven background in quality, all-day restaurants or 5* luxury hotels.
A stable and progressive career and an excellent knowledge of the London dining scene is essential; experience managing a team and basic commercial skills would be strongly desirable.
You will be an excellent team player, able to communicate at all levels and commit to sharing your knowledge and skills within an outstanding kitchen brigade.
Eligibility
In line with the requirements of the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996, all applicants must be eligible to live and work in the UK. Documented evidence of eligibility will be required from candidates as part of the recruitment process.
