Market Cafe needs an ambitious and creative Sous Chef. We are an independent restaurant, very well located on Broadway Market in East London, and have established ourselves over the last few years as a great place to eat and drink. We are open 7 days a week for lunch, brunch and dinner, serving food from 10am to 10.30pm.
The Sous Chef will have complete responsibility for the kitchen operation in the absence of the Head Chef, and must be able to lead and motivate a team to deliver great food. If you love to create beautiful food that’s seasonal and well sourced then we can offer you a fun and professional environment to work in. The working week is around 50-55 hours over 5 days.
You will need to demonstrate good previous experience in a similar role in a busy, high quality restaurant environment , with the skills and attributes listed below.
•A genuine love of cooking, exceptional cooking skills and food knowledge, and the ability to help develop dishes based on these principles, and deliver them with consistency, on time and to budget.
•The ability to remain calm, organised and in control in a very busy and high pressure environment.
•The ability to help recruit, train, and motivate a team of talented chefs to work with you and share your passion for good food.
•Understanding food stock control and ordering; all health, safety and food hygiene requirements and ensuring they are adhered to.
•Able to share responsibility for the kitchen's financial performance in terms of food General Practitioner targets, and working to an agreed wage budget.
