Site manager - west end and city
We are a medium sized main contractor working in the City and West End of London looking for an experienced Site Manager. Our main field is in refurbishment of high-end commercial and residential properties with contract values of 100K to circa Five million. The Job description is as follows.
Job Description
Schedule the project in logical steps and budget time required to meet deadlines.
Determine labour requirements and dispatch workers to construction sites.
Inspect and review project to monitor compliance with building and safety codes, and other regulations.
Interpret and explain plans to administrative staff, workers, and clients, representing the owner or developer.
Direct and supervise workers.
Study job specifications to determine appropriate construction methods.
Supervise workers who complete specific pieces of the project, such as painting or plumbing.
Requisition supplies and materials to complete construction projects.

Develop and implement quality control programs.
Take actions to deal with the results of delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction site.
Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems.
Plan, organize, and direct activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems.
Investigate damage, accidents, or delays at construction sites, to ensure that proper procedures are being carried out.
Evaluate the on-going construction methods and determine cost-effectiveness of plans.

Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
Scheduling Work and Activities – Scheduling events, programs, and activities, as well as the work of others.
Getting Information – Observing, receiving and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.
Communicating with Persons Outside Organization – Communicating with people outside the organization, representing the organization to customers, the public, government, and other external sources. This information can be exchanged in person, in writing, or by telephone or e-mail.
Coordinating the Work and Activities of Others – Getting members of a group to work together to accomplish tasks.
Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates – Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
Estimating the Quantifiable Characteristics of Products, Events or Information – Estimating sizes, distances, and quantities; or determining time, costs, resources, or materials needed to perform a work activity.
You will need your CSCS Health and Safety Site Supervision Card and those candidates who are conversant with computer systems to include excel will be given preference although training could be offered to a suitable candidate.
You would also need a minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role.
