Nanny Housekeeper Job in London

Posted: 5 days ago
Place: Herne Hill, London SE24

Hey!

2 Awesome boys looking for an equally awesome nanny.

We have 2 little boys (6 and 3 years old) who are fun, bright, warm, kind, caring.
They love hide and seek, dens, climbing, swimming, running on the beach.
They are looking for a nanny to hang out with, laugh with and love.

Irish / aussie / kiwi / south african
We are more interested in personality than where you are from. That said, a lot of our friends (and some of our previous nannies) are antipodean or Irish and that's always been a great fit.

About our family

We are a sporty, working, anglo-irish couple in our mid to late 30's.
Our boys are 3 and 5 1/2 years old. They are both sporty, Smiley and affectionate. The big one loves climbing, reading, hiding and is in school during the weekdays. The little one has pretty similar interests and starts school in September.
We live in a leafy nice part of London, and have a lot of friends and Neighbours and local nannies who are warm friendly people.
We also both come from close-knit families who come and go a lot.
We have a second home on the south coast where we spend most of the summer. We spend a lot of time on the beach, swimming, and sailing.
We consider our nanny to be very much part of the family, and will be happy to help you integrate with friends and activities locally (if you want that).

About the job

The core role includes: Getting the boys dressed in the morning and ready for bed in the evening; Cooking for them and meal times; Activities at home (painting, cooking, playing); Going to the playground, park, swimming, and other activities; Keeping the house in order, and Toys sorted out; Doing the boys laundry; Weekly shopping; Making a few family meals each week; Organising playdates; Homework.
Housekeeping plus kids. We think we are a pretty fun family and home to live with. That said, this is not a "nursery duties only" role - we hope that you will help with shopping, cooking, and keeping things in order. If any of that is a problem then let us know and we can talk around it / work around it with managed expectations on both sides.
Not cleaning (unless you want to?). We are open to discuss whether the role includes cleaning as well (at the moment we have a cleaner, but we could flex that arrangement).
This is a long-term job - please do not apply if you are only looking for a 3-6 month placement. Our last nanny stayed for her whole 2 year Visa.

About the house

We live in a big house with a decent sized garden, and near a lot of parks, clubs.
We are a ten minute train from Victoria, and even shorter walk/bus/train from Dulwich village and Brixton.
You will have your own room with mega views over London. There is also a living room / TV room (also with incredibly views) and a private loo / shower room which you will have to yourself most of the time.
Our Neighbours are really great, a range of ages, and we see a lot of them.
We are majorly into mod-cons - Sonos, Sky, NETFLIX, Apple TV, Insinkerators, Hot taps, Nespresso coffee machines. Appliances are all Bosch or Miele, and the american fridge-freezer has water and ice dispenser.

Ideal fit

Mostly we are looking for someone who is warm and kind-hearted. We care much more that you love being around children rather than have formal training.
Usually our nannies have come from big families, and have a natural way with kids.
We would like someone who can drive and is comfortable doing so.
It's not a pre-requisite but this might suit someone who likes swimming, being outdoors and - obviously - being around kids !
Also we are looking for candidates who are fluent in English.
We think this is a good fit for someone who likes sports, and wants to meet other fun, outdoorsy, people who value quality time with friends-and-family.
Finally (and alternatively) we would be interested in e.g. A student doing a post-grad in London who wants somewhere nice to live with a nice family and time to study / read.

Process

We are ready to crack on immediately, albeit would much rather take more time to find the right person rather than rush into something.
Would love to hear from you if you are interested and applicable for the role. From there we have a few written questions to ask (which will tell you as much about us as it is to find out about you). And after that we'll look to organise a Skype or meeting with us and the kids, and from there will check references.
We can make a decision in a few days. (Previously we had a nanny arrive from Australia within 5 days of posting the ad!)

References and questions

We are happy to put you in touch with our former nannies / au pairs - we are really fond of, and close to, them.
Also happy to answer any questions and to organise some trial time with us and the kids (if appropriate).

Thanks !
Thanks a lot for reading this. Would love to hear from you if it sounds like your thing. We think our boys are pretty great. We have been lucky with the brilliant nannies we've previously had and hope to find another to welcome into our gang.
