Normal duties:
From Monday to Friday while Chris and Tam are out (likely 7.45am to 8 or 9 pm but may be longer depending on work and evening plans – we will try and let you know at the beginning of the week) and 6 Saturday evening and 6 weekend overnights a year (e.g. 7pm on a Saturday until 11am on a Sunday):
• Caring for Isobel and Samson’s health, safety and wellbeing within the routine in which they are established
• Creating a positive environment for Isobel and Samson to learn, play and develop in
• Arranging and supervising an appropriate variety of activities. At the very minimum the children must go outside and see other children at least once every day.
- a daily and significant period of outside play
- daily quiet reading times (when possible before bed)
- cooking or other messy play (painting etc)
- learning focused play such as colours, numbers, etc
- swimming
- activities outside of the home; for example play groups, music classes, dance classes etc
- NOTE – watching video on TV, iPad and mobiles should be kept to a minimum. Ideally Isobel and Samson would not do this at all. But if it is necessary at the very max it should be no more than 30 minutes in any one day. The same goes for playing games on these devices – in short they should not spend more than 30 Mins max screen time in any one day and ideally they would not be used at all.
• Planning, preparing and cooking nutritious menus and meals for Isobel and Samson. The food needs to be varied a minimum of two different dishes for lunch during the week and a different ‘kids’ supper each night. No Junk/processed food – includes ice creams, chocolates, sweets, chips, hamburgers etc etc.
• Keeping the kitchen clean and tidy daily including loading and emptying the dishwasher
• Keeping the bedroom and play areas clean and tidy daily in particular ensuring all Toys and children equipment are cleared away at the end of the day and put back into their sets
• Laundering and keeping in good order Isobel and Samson’s clothes and bedding when necessary (being sure to rinse thoroughly clothes that need to be rinsed)
• Cleaning, and keeping in good order, Isobel and Samson’s equipment eg pram, Toys etc daily (especially after trips to the sandpit)
• Helping with the family laundry including ironing
• Shopping for the family when necessary
• Cleaning the silver
• Changing the bedding every two weeks
You may from time to time be required to carry out other reasonable work which is not listed above and not exclusively relating to Isobel and Samson.
Household rules:
• No smoking, drinking or taking drugs or being under the influence of these when Isobel and Samson are in your care or in the house or garden this also applies to any visitors you may have
• If you have visitors they should not be to the detriment of Isobel and Samson, you should let Chris and Tam know before and the house should be left clean and tidy
• You can use our internet connection but please only use it when Isobel and Samson are asleep
• If you have personal errands to run that is fine but please keep them to a minimum and don’t do them if they are to the detriment of Isobel and Samson
• You may incur travel and other expenses from looking after Isobel and Samson these will be paid by Chris and Tam if you inform them what they will be in advance and provide receipts.
Holiday time:
• Holiday entitlement is 13 days a year (paid) in addition to UK bank holidays (also paid). Holiday time should be taken at the same time as Chris and Tam are on holiday.
