We are looking for a calm and considerate live in female companion /assistant with some experience in social care for an elderly lady with dementia who needs some support during the evenings/night from 5.45 PM until 8 AM the next day.
During the day she has other carers who come in to look after her and do all the personal care, give food and administer medication etc. So you will be free to come and go during the day. This may suit someone with no commitments or who has a small part-time day job or a mature student looking for somewhere to live but is also able to provide some additional help/duties for a minimum of six months.
We are offering free accommodation in a large double bedroom with lots of storage space , shared bathroom and kitchen with free Wifi and all bills included and a salary payment of £600 PER MONTH in exchange for the following responsibilities:
Keep lady indoors (front door locked) to keep her safe from wandering outside of the house from 5.45 pm onwards until the daytime carers arrive the next morning.
Keep her occupied during the early evening by watching TV or chatting and take her up to bed at 9pm or a bit later if possible.
Guidance and help with toileting when required during the evening, she may also get up once or even twice in the night to go to the toilet usually around 4 or 5 am. There may be occasions due to incontinence issues where she may need to be changed and the night clothes and bed sheets replaced so we would need someone who doesn’t have a problem with this.
Other requirements:
Recent CRB or DBS clearance certificate if possible
Can start live-in around the middle of September.
Have a good sense of humour and if you can speak some Italian that would be great.
