Live in Au Pair Required

Posted: 17-12-2021
Place: Hackney, London

We are a friendly, energetic and creative family looking for an equally energetic, creative, happy and responsible person with a can-do attitude to come and join the family in our home in Hackney. You will need to speak English fluently, ideally be living in the UK, and  be an active person yourself with a mature outlook and a genuine love and passion for looking after young children, and be able to start between now and the first week of September. You would only be needed for 3 days a week (Mon-Weds) though this may increase to 4 days (Mon-Thursday) from September due to our work commitments (obviously your pay would be increased accordingly) and we’re keen for someone to stay until at least Easter 2022.
We’ve enjoyed having au pairs living with us for nearly 5 years now, and it’s been good fun for all. We're looking for someone who wants to become part of the family, have some adventures with us along the way, whilst being someone who enjoys their own independence - only being needed for a short working week week means you'll have lots of time for your own projects. Our previous au pairs have included a fine artist, Yoga instructor and a musician, and have all had very full lives away from us in their free time but have still been able to walk straight back in to home and the family.
You'll have a lovely, quiet, large bedroom at the top of a large family house with your own bathroom, WIFI, TV, NETFLIX.
Our 2 children, aged 12 and 7, are both very enthusiastic, engaging children who are great fun to be around. They are very active and spend a lot of their time outside in various sports such as, swimming, gymnastics and cycling….lots of cycling! They also enjoy art and crafts, cooking and baking. In summary, you'd say we were an outdoors/camping/museum going family. Equally, they’ll be happy with some movie/tv/Playstation time for a while. An honest statement would also include that they can drive each other nuts, and you’ll have to act as peacekeeper at times – so nothing unusual for a brother and sister! Our son struggles with literacy, severe dyslexia has handed him that challenge, so a patient and sensitive approach to his learning is required at times, and his frustrations can spill over into the day(a few sulky moments!) but it’s really no big deal, just being honest about it.
We live very close to the Olympic park and it's amazing facilities. If you run, swim, cycle, skate, climb, box, ride horses, play Hockey, tennis, and more, then it’s all within easy reach. Most activities are a walk away, but we also cycle a lot and part of the fun of this is getting the kids around on 2 wheels sometimes. Hackney is known for its vibrant arts and cultural scene, so plenty to keep you occupied there. We prepare most of our food from scratch with healthy ingredients, so we’re looking for someone who enjoys doing the same.
Both attend local schools full-time 9am-3.30pm, our 7 year old daughter’s school is just a 5 minute walk away, our 12 year old son now goes to secondary school so he gets himself there and back.
We're very 'hands-on' parents, love to spend as much time with our kids as we can, put them to bed and read to them every night.
We have a nice large house on a quiet street in a vibrant part of Hackney, East London. There are plenty of shops, cafes, cool markets, lots of parks and some fantastic green space. The area has a strong community feel with lots of young people as well as families, and is a very multi cultural area with plenty of opportunities to make friends.
