We are looking for a new Au Pair to become a part of our family. There is always room for one more in our household and we look forward to welcoming you into our home and life. We believe finding the right match is key and we have remained good friends with all our previous Au Pairs and Nannies. We need you to help us with our 2 year old daughter and nearly one year old son. About the family: Mum is Australian, living in the UK for 10 years, Dad is British and has a demanding job in the city which entails some international travel. Daughter is very articulate and likes to be kept busy, she enjoys trips to the common, playing in the backyard and drawing. She is a good eater and sleeps well. Son likes to watch his older sister playing and is generally pretty relaxed as long as he is kept in his routine. Both of them love music, singing and dancing. We also have a French Bulldog who you will need to be happy walking and two lovely Burmese cat. Dad has two older children Girl 14 and Boy 11 who live close by and come for dinner each Tuesday and also come to stay every other weekend.
We live between Wandsworth Common and Clapham Common, very close to the shops, restaurants etc. On Bellevue Road, Northcote Road, Balham and Clapham. We will be more than happy to show you around and help you get settled in. We are all used to hosting and welcoming people to London by now :) Our Daughter's nursery have a Whatsapp group for Nannies and Au Pairs, it is a lovely group, they spend a lot of time together.
Your room is by far the best and biggest one in the house! It is light and airy with a king bed, make up table, chest of drawers, wardrobe, TV, Wifi and it's own bathroom with beautiful views over the rooftops of Wandsworth. It also has our piano in there at the moment as our last Au Pair played, but don't worry as it is not a requirement of the role :) All meals will be included, we love food, cooking and entertaining - we try to be healthy but like to indulge a bit too much! Mum and Dad do most of the cooking but you would need to be happy to plan and prepare meals for the family a few times a week if needed (Something simple is fine, or we use recipe boxes which are very easy to follow).
Our daughter attends nursery five mornings a week and both children attend swimming lessons and other classes, everything is within walking distance. We have a wide circle of friends and a network of local Au Pairs who you could connect with to organise play dates / socialise with etc.
We like to keep busy!
A family reference from one of our Nannies: "I first worked for the Kirby Family in March 2022 on a contract to help out mainly with their daughter of 16 months (at the time) whilst their son was born. They immediately made me feel extremely welcome and at home. They were always exceptionally grateful for all that I did for them and I was made to feel like a valued addition to the family. They always welcomed my professional advice and were very conscious of allowing me to do my job despite them being around. They are a laid back family who are fun and very easy to live with, so much so that I then went to Barcelona with them as their holiday Nanny. Since this time we also keep in regular contact. They are a lovely, kind and considerate family who I wouldn't hesitate to recommend. For any further information please feel free to contact me." Michelle.
You will be needed 35 hours / week, plus two nights baby sitting per week, your starting weekly pay is £130 / week with the option to work more hours for additional pay as and when there is a need or for other families in the area. Duties will include, taking daughter to and from nursery school 09:00-12:20, take children to classes (Monkey Music, Swimming etc.) and playdates, We are looking for someone who is highly organised and proactive in keeping the children engaged and who would be happy to arrange age appropriate activities such as arts and crafts, baking, new games / Toys. The weekly schedule varies and will be set on Friday the week before, we are quite flexible in accommodating timetables for English lessons or other commitments.
Housekeeping duties:
Daily - vacuum and mop downstairs, empty and load dishwasher, tidy kitchen, walk the dog.
Weekly – sort children’s clothes, Towels and sheets etc, into lights, Darks, whites for the washing to be sent out and put clothes away when the laundry is returned. Small amount of ironing. General organisation of the house, take initiative and put things in good places. Rotation of Toys for both children.
Although our older children are not your responsibility, it is very important that you can connect with them, talking to them or engaging them with a board game or other appropriate activities. We travel often and you would be invited to join us as and when needed. Our next big trip will be to New York for 10 days, which we are all really looking forward to. Drivers licence desirable but not essential, car would be provided. Second language desirable, especially French as our daughter has previously been at an immersive French speaking day care 4 days a week. Any other language would also be a plus.
