Our mission is to promote positive social change by creating opportunities for people to come together and play a more active part in their community. Our projects anchor us in the community, providing spaces for residents to eat, shop, learn, create, and enjoy a diverse cultural program.Our buildings are home to more than 25 community organisations and charities and many others that hire our rooms for their meetings, training sessions, and events.
All the profits go back into the community, enabling us to run volunteer programs and support local individuals and organisations.
We are currently seeking a Graphic Designer to join our team in the main office.
Job Description
Working closely with both internal and external stakeholders, the Graphic Designer will continue to build the SMH brand while creating visuals and campaigns that will increase the brand’s awareness as well as making it recognisable amongst the visual clutter of East London.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable with being involved in every stage of the design process — from conception through to completion, while handling rounds of revisions with attention to detail and a positive attitude.
You'll be reporting to the Communications Manager and working alongside our Social Media Coordinator.
Our very diverse programme means that you will be focusing on generating creative and engaging solutions to promote our projects, keeping the brand fresh and consistent.
The role will require the following:
experience
In both print and digital design, with a sound knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud either as an in-house designer or at a marketing/advertising agency.
Track record of working on campaigns, from concept definition, to preparation of all documents for production and liaising with production companies.
Project management and experience of working with a range of stakeholders.
An understanding of creating video content or photography and camera work experience would be a bonus.
Knowledge/ Skills
Educated to degree level or equivalent and holding relevant professional qualifications.
Knowledge of the voluntary and not-for-profit sectors.
Facility with mainstream social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and with publishing platforms such as Squarespace.
Outstanding communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to engage and build relationships with a range of stakeholders.
