An exciting opportunity has arisen at The Mills Care Group within our Fairmount residential care home in Mottingham for a full time Care Assistant.
We are looking for individuals who are naturally suited to the role so no previous experience is required.
We work on a 33 hour working week and the successful applicant can join us on either a day time or a night time shift pattern, whichever is preferred.
The hourly rate is £7.72 per hour on weekdays (negotiable if qualified to NVQ level) and this rises to £8.82 per hour at weekends.
Purpose of the position:
* To share with other staff in meeting the personal care needs of clients in a way that respects the dignity of the individual and promotes independence.
* To help in the care of the care users' physical environment and in the general day-to-day activities of the home.
* To take delegated responsibilities in the charge of the care users under your care, to the appropriate level.
Key Responsibilities of the role:
* Assist Care users who need help with dressing, undressing, bathing and going to the toilet.
* Help care users with mobility problems and other physical disabilities such as incontinence
* Help in the promotion of mental and physical activity of care users
* Make and change beds; tidy rooms and do light cleaning
* Serve meals; assist care users at meal times if required; wash up utensils
* Answer call bells, emergency bells, the door and the telephone; greet visitors
* Read and write reports in case notes
* Take part in staff and residents' meetings and also in training activities as required
* Assist a senior members of staff with medication administration
* Carry out regular checks around the home at intervals determined by the care provider
* Assist care users who need help, reassurance or comfort
* Ordering and checking in monthly medication
* Totalling of fluid balance charts at midnight
* Carry out other reasonable duties as may be required

* Must have a caring and compassionate outlook
* Patience is a must for this role
If you have these qualities in abundance, we can teach you the rest as there is ongoing training for this role throughout the lifetime of your career as a carer including the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF). We encourage promotion from within and there is the possibility for career progression for the right candidate.
.As well as on-going training and a competitive hourly rate (hourly rate dependent on experience) we also offer the following:
* Free Uniform is provided
* We also provide Free Meals whilst you are on duty
* We offer paid break times
* Our Care Assistants get 5.6 weeks paid holiday per year
* We offer Free Parking for staff at our care homes
Due to the nature of this job we will require an Enhanced DBS Check prior to starting work with us, and the successful applicant will need to register with the Update Service.
