Brill is a much loved neighbourhood café and CD/record shop. We are looking for a part-time barista (currently wedneday, thursday and friday 27.5 hours per week). We are after an all-rounder who is passionate about food, coffee and music. We pay £8.50 per hour, plus twenty days holiday (pro-rata) and bank holidays per year.
We love: Getting to know our customers. Avocado with dukkah. Discussing the genius of Transparent. Debating Marmite versus Vegemite. Patti Smith, Aretha’s high notes and dancing to ska. Dreadful puns. People who return their dirty cups.
If you feel the same we’d love to hear from you. Brill prides itself on the excellence of our coffee and food, our impeccable taste in music and the friendliness of our staff. You must have had at least one years experience working in an independent cafe. You will be confident about dialling-in/adjusting the grind, latte art and basic machine maintenance. We would expect you to be equally confident in making great coffee, serving customers and preparing bagels/salads to a high standard. You will be used to working as part of a team in a small and fast-paced environment.
It is essential that you can speak English fluently and also have the necessary work permit (if applicable). All applications must include a CV and a short covering letter explaining why you’d like to work for us. You are encouraged to drop your CV and covering letter off in person.
We will only be responding to successful applicants due to the number of replies we get.
