Bar supervisor and live music guru
If pulling pints and looking after a team, along with a flair for live music and event organising is something you’re interested in, we may have a role for you. Based in Streatham Hill, the pub is suitably busy and offers a comfortable and relaxed environment for regular customers and new faces. It is imperative that you are a keen communicator who is not afraid of responsibility or taking on challenges.
A passion for events and live music is ideal, as we are looking to really push the pub in to becoming a credible live music venue for bands and artists; at present, we run a weekly Open Mic night on Thursdays, which is proving a great success. We have also just started to organise weekly live music events on Saturday evenings and have also recently Begun a new Tuesday evening offer which includes afro jazz and a spoken word forum with a political twist. We are also looking to extend our entertainment to compliment our Friday night DJ with potentially a DJ slot on Sunday evening.
Liaising with bands, artists, musicians, hosts and entertainment acts will be an integral part of this role, so excellent communication skills – both written and verbal – is essential.
With all of this entertainment comes great responsibility. We are looking for a candidate who has an aptitude and willingness to want to learn, as well as somebody who is able to bring their own experience and personality to the table. There is a lot of growth – personal and professional – held in this position and it will be suited to somebody who is looking to step up in roles and take on new and challenging responsibilities, in preparation for a re-launch of brand for the pub.
Social media knowledge, specifically Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, is necessary and the ideal candidate will be somebody who is not afraid to share their opinion – whilst listening to others’. Somebody who can think for themselves, hold their own and show initiative is ideal, as is a sense of humour, common sense and initiative. Somebody who can follow instructions, whilst using this opportunity to further their abilities and position, is who we are ideally looking for.
The pub’s operation is currently wet led with no in-house food operation – however, we do have a kitchen and with the re-launch, this will be next on the agenda to hopefully get up and running. We would also like to implement some fresh and exciting new ideas and are open to all input and suggestions.
Full time hours may vary from 38-48 hours per week; this shift pattern may include double shifts (from open to close), or split shifts, subject to business requirements. A flexible work approach is required and a local area candidate is preferred due to the late nights.
Important application criteria
Please ensure your application includes your date of birth, so as to meet licensing requirements, as well as your residential address. It is important that you have a viable route to and from work; please advise in your application how you would travel home safely late at night as staff welfare is of paramount importance to the business. Applicants will only be considered if they have a practical and safe way of travelling home and they live a reasonable distance from work.
Please note that a personally delivered CV is more likely to get your application pushed further ahead for consideration, as it also provides with the opportunity to meet with you.
Applicants must be a permanent UK resident, with full E.U working rights, and a fluency in mathematics and the English language is essential.
Whilst training will be provided on the job, previous bar/pub experience is essential.
Please only apply if you fit the above criteria.
