Peabody has an exciting opportunity for a Youth Worker to join our team in Waltham Forest. You will join us on a full time, fixed term basis and you will receive a salary of £25,000 - £28,000 per annum.
The Youth Worker role:
To engage with and support young people from a range of backgrounds to enable them to participate in diversionary and vocational activities, develop and lead on projects and to positively progress.  This role is based across Waltham Forest and involves being available over the summer holidays, including some evenings and some weekend work.
Responsibilities of our Youth Worker:
- Assist in the supervision of young people during youth club evenings, including setting up and tidying away games and activities.
- Help us deliver our summer holiday programme.
- Work with young people to identify their goals and build on their interests, help them to increase their confidence and skills and to progress.
- Support the development of youth led projects and initiatives.
- Provide feedback to parents, carers and/ or guardians where appropriate.
- Establish good working relationships with the wider Peabody team in Waltham Forest, staff and volunteers.
- Successfully work with a range of external multi-disciplinary agencies on joint projects as required.
- Assess and monitor young people to track progress and evidence the impact of services in order to achieve targets and outcomes.
What we’re looking for in our Youth Worker:
- Understanding of the issues faced by vulnerable and hard to reach young people with proven experience in the youth work field, preferably with a JNC qualification or equivalent.
- Ability to engage and communicate well with young people, colleagues and parents.
- Knowledge of child protection, health and safety and other youth work related issues.
- Active commitment to equal opportunities, with the ability to work in culturally diverse communities and groups.
- Ability to network with and successfully manage relationships with other organisations and professionals.
- Highly motivated, creative and able to work as part of a team or work independently on own initiative.
- JNC preferred
