Eastside Youth is a new youth work charity, that started in January 2022 and is based in East London aiming to change the lives of young people and has been set up in response to the massive and severe funding cuts and closures of youth services across East London, leaving young people with lack of services and feeling isolated in a time where young people already feel segregated from society with no real voice.
#YouthWorkChangesLives and at Eastside Youth we aim to facilitate that change by giving young people aged 11 to 19 years old based in East London the tools and skills to lead active and independent lives by providing interactive and engaging structured youth activities, training opportunities and support that will help improve their physical, mental, emotional, social and educational well-being.
We are looking for a volunteer to join us as our Youth Work Manager for a few hours per week (evening/weekend based) to lead on the set up of Eastside Youth's, youth work activities and programme, including (with the support of other volunteers and with the input of young people) generic/universal youth work activities and programs available for all young people aged 11 to 19 years old in East London or within specific East London Boroughs.
We need someone who is approachable, friendly and solution focused, who is able to get things done with little supervision who can work well alone or within a team, who is able to manage their own workloads and is able to coach, support and supervise youth workers and team leaders.
This role offers an amazing opportunity for someone interested in a youth work charity, management or charity work, especially having an impact in a new charity and also offers great flexibility to fit around your personal/work life.
Duties Include:
1. Coordinating all youth work activities and programs at Eastside Youth, including supervision of Lead Youth Workers who lead on youth work projects.
2. Planning, organising and delivering generic/universal youth work activities and sessions for young people that are fun, interactive, engaging with elements of informal learning and development with Lead Youth Workers, project volunteers and with input from young people.
3. Ensuring all policies and procedures are implemented including the health, safety and wellbeing of all young people attending and the team, including safeguarding.
4. Leading on or assisting in writing funding applications and doing fundraising for funds for Eastside Youth.
5. Promoting Eastside Youth and its projects, including flyering, attending school assemblies, using social media, etc. To attract young people into our services.
6. Attending internal/external meetings, training sessions and open evenings.
7. Filling in session recording forms and carrying out health and safety checks and Risk Assessments.
8. Other duties and tasks required for the role.
Time Commitment and Work Location:
This role would ideally be approximately. 6-8 hours per week commitment (during evening and weekends), managed flexibly and with some remote/home based working.
