Lucy is 23 years old, has cerebral palsy and is a wheelchair user. Snap are seeking a third member of her care team to provide 1:1 support. Lucy works full-time as a journalist for a broadcasting organisation and is living independently with the assistance of her care team in Southwark.
Lucy has independent mobility in her electric wheelchair, but requires assistance in many areas. She needs help with all personal care, feeding, dressing etc. You will be responsible for cooking, doing washing and keeping the flat tidy and clean. Lucy may ask you to do some shopping or you may accompany her to do it.
You will need to get Lucy up and ready for work quickly and on time. You will accompany her to work so you are available for personal care but she is largely independent at work. During her working day you may be required to run errands and take messages etc.
During the night, Lucy may need assistance to use the toilet or repositioning, however it will mostly be a sleep-in shift.
Lucy will need a Support Worker / Personal Assistant she can rely on and who will not only provide the highest quality of care, but who is also a person she can bond with, have a laugh and most importantly feel comfortable with.
Lucy enjoys being out and about in London. She has a busy social life and enjoys spending time with friends.  This can include going for a couple of drinks in a bar or meeting for dinner and shows. She is somewhat of a night-owl. It is essential that you are comfortable with this aspect of the role – your role is to enable Lucy to live her life how Lucy wants to. We are looking for someone who can enjoy these activities while knowing when to give Lucy space.
Please speak with Jade at Snap to find out more about this fantastic opportunity.
*Gender is considered to be a genuine occupational requirement in accordance with paragraph 1 of Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010 for a female worker to work with our client.
