Weekend Special Needs Nanny in SW

Posted: Yesterday
Place: Tooting, London

We are looking for a warm-hearted special needs carer to play with and look after our 11 year old daughter on a Saturday. Sophia is loving and sociable but has a rare genetic condition that means that she is wheelchair-bound and non-verbal. Sophia loves to go out to the park, the museums, the farm or the zoo on a weekend but also enjoys spending time relaxing and playing at home.
We are looking for an individual who has previously worked as a nanny and has special needs experience, ideally including an understanding of manual handling techniques, basic Makaton and the ability to deal with children with challenging behaviour. No specific medical training is required, just a calm, patient, kind and friendly character with lots of common sense and experience of childcare. We are looking for somebody who has ideas and initiative, is fun as well as a caring nature. Somebody who would be a good fit with the family is also important to us.
The position is Saturday from 10-5 (there is some flexibility with the hours), with the potential for an early start once a month. Although not essential, it would be great if the candidate also has the flexibility to work a few days in the school holidays and could potentially go away on holiday with us in the future.
We are based in SW17 between Balham and Tooting Bec tube stations. Starting January, the salary is £13 per hour.
Please apply with a CV and photo if interested.
