We are looking for a talented, enthusiastic front of house staff to join our team at an exciting new location.
The Begging Bowl Canteen | West Brompton will be serving simplified Thai street food favourites in a beautiful and relaxed setting, 10 minutes from Kensington. Forget rainbow curries you get at your corner Thai shop, at The Begging Bowl we make all our flavours and base ingredients from scratch; our own coconut cream, curry pastes, sauces and desserts. Over our grill, wok Burner and ovens we pour a lot of experience to produce fresh and exciting food. The head chef, Jane Alty, has been cooking for 20 years and began her focus on Thai food while working at Michelin starred restaurant Nahm.
This new location will be a fresh and exciting take on a Peckham institution. Our founding restaurant, The Begging Bowl in Peckham, is an award winning, tradition, authentic Thai concept eating house, serving sharing plates full of flavour, heat and Spice, exactly like you get on the streets of Chang Mai, Bangkok and Hua Hin – among others. The Canteen will serve a reduced menu but we’ll expect the same level of service, enthusiasm and professionalism from our staff to create a friendly efficient and relaxed atmosphere within which to enjoy our food.
THE ROLE
* Meet and greet customers
* Uphold the standards of the Begging Bowl and ensure these standards are held by the team.
*Manage and use the till system to take orders on a counter service basis
* Maintain the reputation of The Begging Bowl, keepings service standards high
* To co-operate with all catering staff and undertake such duties in the kitchen/ service areas as requested to ensure an efficient and effective service is delivered at all time
* To project a willing and helpful attitude to customers
* To seek the appropriate knowledge of food items sold throughout catering areas
* The job provides the opportunity to contribute substantially to an established but still growing kitchen, working daily with fresh ingredients and develop skills in an entirely new form of cooking – working with rare fruit and vegetables to establish a uniquely Thai flavour profile.
