Volunteer Mentor for Young Disabled People

Posted: Today
Place: Hackney, London

Want to contribute to your community, meet new people, gain new skills and help a young person to make decisions about their future? Try volunteering!
Volunteering Matters Give More Get More in Hackney, supports young people with special educational needs and disabilities to transition from full time education with the support of a volunteer aged 50 plus. The project aims to find opportunities and to build a personal progression plan for each young person, created in partnership with their paired volunteer.
Over three months you will guide and support the young person and their family to create achievable goals and targets to enable the young person to work towards their future.

No specific experience is needed to become a volunteer, but patience, the ability to listen and a sense of humour are all useful skills. In return for your time you will receive out of pocket expenses, relevant training, lots of support and the ability to make a difference.
If you want to get involved in this exciting new project where you have the opportunity to help to shape the future of a young person leaving education to the next stage in their life, then this project could be for you!
