We are a new and rapidly expanding funky, dynamic, fast-paced, fun loving and ever changing youth work charity in East London, with some amazing and exciting volunteer opportunities for people with bags of energy and enthusiasm and a willingness to help make Eastside Youth the best youth work charity in the world.
Youth Work Changes Lives and at Eastside Youth this is our mantra, and we aim to facilitate that change by giving young people aged 11 to 25 years old based in East London the tools and skills to lead active and independent lives by providing interactive and engaging structured youth activities, training opportunities and support that will help improve their physical, mental, emotional, social and educational well-being.
We have a huge passion for young people and helping to improve their lives and have setup our charity in response to the massive and severe funding cuts to youth services and closures of youth projects across East London, leaving young people with a lack of positive things to do and feeling isolated alone and having nowhere else to turn in a time where young people already feel segregated from society with no real voice.
We are looking for a volunteer to join our team as our Volunteer Coordinator for a few hours per week during the evenings and occasional weekends - flexible to help us create and run an amazing volunteering programme at Eastside Youth suitable for a small charity such as ours, ensuring we have good practice systems and processes in place to effectively run.
This volunteer position would really suit either someone with previous experience managing volunteers or someone with Human Resources who wants to get into the charity sector and gain experience or give back to the community.
Who We Are Looking For?:
• Positive, quick thinking and solution focused.
• Self-motivated, organised and hands on.
• Approachable, professional and friendly with excellent communication and presentation skills, able to engage with people on different levels.
• Great people management and leadership skills and qualities.
• Previous Volunteer Management or Human Resources experience, ideally within the 3rd sector is desirable but not essential, or relevant transferable experience suited for the role.
• Desirable qualification in Human Resources Management but not essential.
• Ability to motivate, inspire and gain trust of both team members, and key stakeholders.
Eastside Youth Offers:
• Opportunity to be part of an energetic and driven team.
• Growth opportunities, we are a rapidly expanding new youth work charity that’s changing and developing.
• Excellent training and development opportunities.
• Support from Eastside Youth to develop existing and new skills and experiences, that will look great on your CV.
• Influencing Eastside Youth structure and goals, making this role your own.
• A reference for any future employer or training course.
• And most importantly, indirectly making a positive difference to the lives of young people and their future development and directly shaping the futures of our volunteers and team.
