Our client is a leading independent dealer with showrooms across the South of England to the Midlands. An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Vehicle Technician / Mechanic to join their workshop based in Upminster, Essex.The Role of Vehicle Technician / Mechanic You will be joining a friendly aftersales team, and be responsible for servicing and repairing the vehicles that come through the workshop. You will work independently and as part of a team ensuring that customer expectations and productivity targets are met. Responsibilities For the role of Vehicle Technician duties include:* Accurately diagnosing faults with the vehicles using diagnostic equipment and your own mechanical knowledge.* Taking all steps to ensure servicing and repair procedures are completed within Manufacturers timescales.* Discussing matters with customers as required and provide detailed and understandable explanations of faults and the work to be carried out.* Being prepared to make suggestions and give advice regarding any special promotional campaign.* To co-operate in vehicle care, security and safety whilst dealing with vehicles and report any issues or damage to management.* Completing forms and documentation included in the Company's service routine and to record details in a concise manner on the repair order.* Ensuring diagnosis leads to most cost-effective and accurate remedy to the fault or customer complaint.* Wearing protective clothing as provided and instructed.* Using protective covers on vehicles at all times to prevent damage. Skills requiredTo take the role of Vehicle Technician, you must have:* Previous experience in a similar role - ideally 3 + years* City and Guilds / NVQ in vehicle maintenance to Level 3 or equivalent.* Flexibility* The ability to work on your own initiative and to be a team player* Clean UK Driving license.In return for your hard work you will receive a salary of GBP20,000 to GBP24,000 per annum basic, depending on experience with an ote of up to GBP35,000 pa.How to apply Please note that in accordance with Hot Recruitment Consultants recruitment and consultancy processes, if you are shortlisted your CV may be sent to the Hiring Manager at our Clients' business and by applying for this position you give your consent for us to do so.You must have eligibility to work in the UK.
