Transport Manager – Full time Permanent. N7 (Close to Kings Cross)
We are an Italian, family run business, which manufactures specialist Italian cheese, meats and fresh pasta. We are leading importers and distributors of Italian foods, wines and provisions. We have 50 years of growth and established business to our name and are proudly known throughout the wholesale, catering and restaurant industry.
We are now looking for an experienced Transport Manager with strong knowledge and experience as well as solid management experience to step into this role and ensure our reputation of quality service and reliability continues to flourish.
The Role
Your role is to run the company fleet of Vans across London and nationwide managing up to 35 drivers. You will oversee both Vehicle and Driver Legislation and be directly responsible for routing and compliance of weights. You will be in charge of operational administration.
You need to be- CPC Transport Manager Qualified.
Fleet= 3x 26 tons / 11X 7.5 tons / 12 x 7 Tons / 5x 3/5 tons
experience needed:
• Management experience within a Professional Transport operation
• Transport compliance knowledge that is up to date/ current Transport Legislation
• Solid understanding and exceptional attention to details of:
o Tacographs
o Working time Directive for Drivers
o Accident reporting
o Driver and Vehicles Standards (DVSA)
o Drivers License Checks (Certificate of professional Competence)
o Maintenance and PMI in house system
• experience of Routing a large fleet. Strong planning and Analytical skills to ensure a fleet of 30 drivers across London and nationwide
• Oversee a Mechanic team of 2 to ensure Company fleet is legal and to a safe working standard.
• Supervision of all loads onto vehicles
• Carry out spot checks on Vehicles, and Drivers and Audits across the department
• A solid leader with high standards of Cleanliness, H and S and the ability to drive these standards through to your team.
• Ability to think quickly and problem solve
• Management of: Absence, Performance, Holidays and Scheduling and experience of recruiting with strong organisational skills in Operational administration.
• Effective communicator: Can drive team standards through clear and consistent information channels, as well as communicate effectively upwards to executives and directors.
• Hands on Leader: able to motivate and engage with the team while not afraid to direct and performance manage to maximize continual Operational improvements
