Being a Trainee Manager / Supervisor in Shikumen Express means being a source of understanding, insight and expertise for customers and the team alike. Restaurant experience is important to us, but you don’t need to be a Dim Sum expert yet, nor an established manager, we’ll give you training so you can learn more about the world of Asian cuisine. What’s really important is that you have a passion for people – both the individuals in your team, who you’ll coach and develop, and the people who visit our restaurants. You’ll take pleasure in making sure all guests receive top-notch, feel-good customer service, from first greeting to a warm see you next time. You also need to be passionate about running a business, with a great sense for profitability, maestro-level multi-tasking skills and the nous to make sound calls on business decisions.

A strong instinct for the commercial side, and always be looking for ways to drive sales and boost the business, natural leadership qualities, with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think fast great communication skills so you can lead and inspire a team and delight our customers, the ability to live and breathe budgets, labour controls and forecasting.
experience as a management member in catering and hospitality or a similar industry is preferred but not essential e.g. Assistant Manager, Supervisor or Team leader.
Package:
£20,000 Annually.

Shikumen (石库门) translates to “stone gate” and is a style of housing unique to Shanghai. This arched housing blends Chinese and Western structural styles and was popular in the 40s following colonial influence.
We invite you to enter Shikumen, your gateway to the east, as we continue the tradition to blend the two cultures of east and west.
Our food and service reflect the architecture of Shikumen’s elegance, refinement, creativity and of course quality. We source our ingredients carefully to bring diners produce of the highest quality and serve them for exceptional value for money.
We present our à la Carte menu throughout the day and during lunchtimes we compliment our signature dishes with a set lunch as well as an extensive selection of handmade Dim Sum served daily until the early evening.
Notable dishes are our truly authentic Peking Duck cooked according to an ancient recipe and served meticulously at your table by chefs from Peking. The first of two servings are served with handmade Pancakes and Baos made daily by one dedicated chef. We offer unconventional dishes such as Soft Shell Crab in Almond Butter Egg Sauce, Braised Chicken with Radish and Sweet Basil and Clay Pot Tofu with Morel Mushrooms in Black Bean Sauce.
We are especially proud of our handmade Dim Sum selection where each special flavour depends on the ingredients, mixing, kneading and rolling and we retain authenticity for example Our Tianjin Goubuli Bun must have no less than 18 pleats.
Our Cheung Fun selection offers both fried and steamed dough sticks and we have a variety of Congee including the deliciously savoury Century Egg and Pork Congee.
We continue the eastern flavours in our tea, cocktails and sake choices that can be enjoyed with your meal or at our beautiful bespoke hand-carved wooden bar imported from China.
