Here at The Phene we are looking for a brilliant Sous Chef.
About us:
The Phene is a stunning pub dating back to 1853 with 2 restaurant areas, a large leafy garden and 2 private dining rooms. On top of our a la Carte dining we host formal dinners and canapé and drink receptions several times a week, keeping our skilled kitchen team busy and constantly challenged.
We change our menus seasonally, all food is freshly prepared in house, and we source quality produce from small suppliers.
We're the flagship site of City Pub Company, a small entrepreneurial group where individuality and enterprise are rewarded. We enjoy the perfect balance of independence and support, and it means there are career progression opportunities both within the site and within our 31 (and growing) other businesses.

Our long-serving Sous Chef has left to travel home and care for his parents, leaving the opportunity for someone new to fill his crocs!
The Role:
We're looking for a Sous Chef who is enthusiastic and motivated, and has solid experience within a quality gastropub or brasserie.
Must haves:
• Good command of English written and verbal
• Minimum 2 years of experience in similar role – The ability and confidence to lead the Kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef
• Strong leadership skills / ability to train and develop junior chefs
• A flair with ingredients
• Ability to cost menus
• Good knowledge of Health and Safety and Food Hygiene Practices
• Ability to implement business driving ideas, and make the most of an autonomous working environment
