Peabody has an exciting opportunity for a Tenancy Support Officer to join our team in London. The successful applicant will join us on a full time, permanent basis and will receive a salary of £28,000-£32,658 per annum.
Peabody and Family Mosaic have merged, creating a new housing association providing 55,000 homes to 111,000 people across London and the South East. To promote the long-term successful independent living of Peabody’s vulnerable residents through a targeted framework of support. Providing outreach and telephone based support and advisory service, developing and maintaining effective partnerships with internal and external agencies encouraging a multi-agency approach to meet the shortfall of support identified through assessment.
In your new role as Tenancy Support Officer you will:
- Effectively engage Peabody’s vulnerable residents towards sustaining their tenancies and improve their quality of life through holistic assessment in person and over the phone.
- Carry a mixture of crisis and early intervention cases of diverse need working within a targeted framework of support with clear SMART objectives.
- Keep up to date and detailed casework records, monitoring data and preparing reports on each individual case, which may be relied upon as evidence.
- Maintain the organisation’s vulnerability profile to flag vulnerable households, whilst adhering to data protection/confidentiality.
- Facilitate the Duty system providing advice and guidance to residents and staff.
- To develop partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to promote multi-agency working and information sharing to overcome vulnerability of Peabody households.
- Raise awareness of the issues facing vulnerable residents by delivering training and briefing sessions to staff and contractors.
- To overcome poverty and social exclusion by accessing appropriate services internally and externally and fulfilling the role of authorised signatory to the Foodbank.
- To ensure delivery of a customer-focused service in line with Peabody’s Business Plan, adhering to Policy and Procedures, including complaints, correspondence and MP/Cllr enquiries.
- To undertake other tasks as reasonably required in order to meet the varying demands of the business.
Essential skills, knowledge and experience required by the Tenancy Support Officer:
- experience of providing outreach support to vulnerable adults with diverse needs overcoming multiple issues to achieve positive outcomes.
- An understanding of complex support need and track record of engaging effectively in crisis situations for the benefit of the household and the community.
- Ability to work on own initiative and prioritise casework through SMART objectives.
- Knowledge of statutory service provision and responsibilities.
- Good written and verbal communication skills ability to develop good relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent needs assessment and report writing skills and understanding of confidentiality and data protection.
- experience of providing an advisory service in person and over the telephone as well as advocating on behalf of vulnerable individuals.
- A working knowledge of financial issues affecting the client group, including welfare benefits and universal credit.
- Knowledge of safeguarding Adult at Risk and Child protection issues.
- Competent in Outlook, Word, Excel and willingness to learn new case management and monitoring systems.
Desirable skills, knowledge and experience required by the Tenancy Support Officer:
- experience of delivering training programs in a group setting.
