Desired experience: experience of dystonia, cerebral palsy, manual handling, suctioning and gastrostomy care, providing physio support, confident Swimmer, current, updated DBS would also be very helpful
Start Date: 5th August - 20th August in London and 20th August 2022 – 10th September 2022, ongoing weekend shifts and further travel opportunities are available through out the coming year.
Days and Hours: 8 hours per day, mornings, afternoons and evenings.
John is 20 and is quite the traveller. He is currently in Salento with his mum and support staff and is looking for a physically fit, flexible and experienced carer to join him. John has cerebral palsy.
This role is about supporting John day to day while he is at home here in London and while he enjoys his time in Italy with his family. John is PEG fed and has his medication administered via gastrostomy as well as requiring suctioning throughout the day. John and his mum love to swim and successful applicants will be confident, physically fit and active and have a flexible approach. You will be working closely with John and his family and will have a flexible, amicable and open minded approach to taking direction and learning about John and his support needs.
This job will suit a confident and assured support worker with experience of complex medical procedures and manual handling. John requires assistance with clearing his chest and someone with experience of providing chest physio would be hugely beneficial. As the family are out in beautiful Salento we are looking for a good traveller who enjoys the heat and can work under high temperatures without fuss. While in London with John you will be working with his family and his current staff to learn about his support needs and to establish a strong working relationship with him.
This role offers the opportunity for the right candidate to work closely with John and support him to have a fantastic time in Salento. Successful candidates will have a flexible working pattern and have time to explore the surrounding area. The family are ideally looking for a candidate who travels well and will be available for weekend shifts while John is at home in London and who can travel with the family consistently and regularly in the future.
