We require a teaching Assistant to start in September 2021 giving support across a secondary mainstream school located inner North London. The teaching assistant role will be mainly focused on Special Educational Needs, giving literacy and numeracy support to learners with moderate learning difficulties. This will be an initial 1 year teaching assistant contract with a possibility of securing a teacher training place from September 2022.
The successful teaching assistant will be based in the SEN department and will be line manged by the SENCO. There are a high proportion of SEN students at the school in both Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, thus the provision is very well resourced and staffed. As a new teaching assistant at the school, you will be joining a supportive and well-trained team who work very well together.
The teaching assistant role will involve working 1:1 and doing small group intervention work with both KS3 and KS4 learners within the SEN department of the school. Ideally we are looking for a teaching assistant with strong experience working with 11-16 year Olds on the autistic spectrum. Previous training or additional qualifications would be beneficial to your application.
As a teaching assistant at this secondary school, you will also be working with other Moderate Learning difficulties such as Global Delay and Speech and Language difficulties so a good understanding an knowledge of Special Educational Needs is beneficial, although you will be given ongoing training throughout your placement. You should be a confident teaching assistant who can hit the ground running starting in September 2021. Ability to work in a team of teaching assistants is essential as well as ability to show initiative where necessary.
The school is a lively inner London school based in North London with great transport links whether you are coming from inside or outside of London. It is just a short walk away from the underground station.
