Our Day Services provide therapeutic work and opportunities for adults with learning disabilities, in an environment where people can develop skills that build self-confidence and encourage independence.
We are currently recruiting for support assistants to work independently or within a team to support people with learning disabilities in all aspects of their everyday lives, providing practical, physical and emotional support. The emphasis is on providing person centered support through building relationships with people with learning disabilities and other assistants.
Skills and Qualifications for this role are:
• A background in nursing, care, teaching etc. And related qualification is desirable but not essential.
• Previous experience within the learning disability sector is desirable, interest is essential.
• Good written communication skills and IT proficiency.
• Interest in working in an intentional faith community.
• Interest in and support of the mission and values of L’Arche is essential.
Your offer will include:
• Free care sector training (eg. Autism, First Aid, Sign language, Communication etc.)
• 30 days paid annual holiday (inclusive of public holidays)
• Being part of an international federation covering 149 communities in 38 countries worldwide.
• Retreat opportunities.
Please note that you are required to work some evenings and weekends, public holidays and to do sleep-ins.
