The Rookery Cafe is a unique café located next to the Rookery on Streatham Common.
The café is situated in the heart of beautiful Streatham Common, with great views from its 40 + seat terrace. Inside there is seating for about 45 customers who we serve from our counter operation as well as a substantial takeaway business. Our chefs create the majority of the cafés, cakes and cookies and all the other menu/ brunch items from scratch focusing on quality and local suppliers with the aim to provide the most exciting seasonal and delicious food in Streatham and beyond.
This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate individual to join our team at The Rookery for the summer, and to progress in the industry outside the constraints of traditional restaurant kitchens.
You must have the following to be eligible for this role:
- You must be reliable, honest, energetic, and personable and have very high personal standards of service and presentation
-You must be able to work as part of a team in an often fast paced environment
- Good English and communication skills are essential to deal with colleagues and customers but also some of the daily paperwork
- A genuine interest in food and drink as the right candidate will have the opportunity to learn more and develop from a kitchen porter/ assistant
- This is a part time summer position of 2 to 3 days per week. This is a daytime role so almost all your evenings will be free!
- Eligible to work in the UK, have a National Insurance number and UK bank account
- Relevant identification documents to prove eligibility will be taken as part of the recruitment process together with referencing
