Artbox London is a small charity based in Islington and offering a range of opportunities for people with learning disabilities to engage in the arts.
We currently run weekly art workshops, trips to museums and galleries and host annual exhibitions, where we show and sell art created in the workshops. The money is shared with the artists so they can experience the positive benefits of earning money from their skills.
We are looking for volunteers with experience/education in the arts to support and mentor the artists within the studio sessions and to provide assistance on trips. Volunteers usually commit to a minimum of 3 hours per week, which includes setting up the studio and helping 1-2 artists within each session. There are also opportunities to teach techniques or art history to the group.
Sessions take place in the Islington Arts Factory (N7 0SF) on Fridays , Saturdays and now Thursdays.
Right now we need volunteers for Saturdays from 14.00-16.00 and Thursdays 10.00-13.00.
