Working for one of the leading 'not for profit organisations' this is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has not worked in the charity sector before. This is a Field Based (Southern half of England and Wales) role within our network requiring a number of overnight stays. The individuals should be self-motivated with excellent time management and diary skills along with flexibility in working to fit into the business needs.Key Role Responsibilities:*Effectively communicate all SSHEQ policies and procedures ensuring they are easily understood and applied throughout the network.*Work closely with third party agents and Heads of Department, Operations Managers and Hostel Managers to ensure full transparency over our levels of statutory and policy compliance.*Ensure audit outcomes are communicated to the network with appropriate advice and guidance.*Responsible for investigating significant accidents/incidents and dangerous occurrences and recommend appropriate remedial action*Undertake regular inspections of all sites within the network on a frequency as agreed with the Head of SSHEQ.*Liaise with the with the Learning and Development function to establish a framework for training of Hostel Managers and all employees as required, and support with external accreditations.*Responsible for interpreting and communicating to the network Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and codes of practice.*Produce monthly reports and updates to the Head of SSHEQ, Head of Operations and others as required to support the decision making process.*Support the Maintenance team in undertaking inspections of works or items, or meetings with contractors, that may be required as requested from the National Maintenance Manager.*Undertake work on specific projects as directed by the Head of SSHEQ.*Undertake Building Fire Risk Assessment and reviews annually*Undertake and record hostel SSHEQ improvement plans annually Person specification:*Qualified to NEBOSH Dip or NVQ Level 4 up to Degree level or equivalent*Professional membership of an appropriate health and safety professional body*Good written and verbal communication skills including experience of accurate and methodical working*Proven ability to accurately give instructions and ensure clients adhere to these instructions*Auditing qualification in a relevant subject area*Evidence of a pragmatic approach to problem solving.*Capable of working under episodic pressure to meet deadlines*Evidence of understanding the principles of dynamic and systematic risk assessment and putting that knowledge into practice.*Evidence of implementing policies and practices leading to improved results.
