Unique opportunity not to be missed! Heathrow Travel Care have an exciting opportunity for a Social Work Advisor (Older Adults) to join our growing team at Heathrow Airport. You will join us on a 2 year contract,  and we are offering a competitive salary of £36,000 per annum plus excellent benefits.
As the Social Work Advisor (Older Adults), you will enable the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to offer advice and assistance to vulnerable British nationals known to the UK Consular Network.
Key areas of responsibility as our Social Work Advisor (Older Adults) include:
- Advice, support and guide consular assistance staff in London and staff based overseas on older persons social work issues for British nationals
- Working collaboratively with the social work advisor team to review cases and relevant policy
- Investigating, signposting, planning with consular staff who are working with DBNs
- To provide specialist adult protection advice to the consular staff
- Referral of 'meet and assist’, cases to relevant service providers at UK ports
- Risk assessment of cases
- Policy, guidance and training input to the Consular staff
- Building and maintaining links with relevant assistance NGOs and travel partners via outreach work
- Building and maintaining links with Consular Regional Directors
- Cover for Social Work Advisor team as required
- Recording of all cases on a secure consular information network and monthly reporting to HTC
HTC (1 day per month)  
- Liaison between airport crisis team (focus on ‘meet and assist’) and FCO Consular Directorate
- Contribution to airport crisis work
- Contribution to Heathrow Travel-Care policy, guidance and strategic planning
- Participation in emergency preparedness and response at Heathrow
- Participation in regular supervision
- Continuing professional development
Our ideal Social Work Advisor (Older Adults):
- Social Work degree; CQSW; DipSW; or approved equivalent
- HCPC Social Work Registration
- Understanding of adult safeguarding procedures within Local Authorities
- Understanding of adult safeguarding policy
- Understanding of eligibility for care
- Understanding of physical health difficulties associated with age
- Understanding of Dementia
- 2 years recent statutory social work experience
- Recent experience of working directly with older people to statutory standards
- experience of making and recording risk assessments
- experience of problem solving under time pressure
- experience of effective partnership work with other agencies
- experience of prioritising casework
