The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) has been the force behind gardening for more than 200 years.  We believe everyone in every village, town and city should benefit from growing plants to enhance lives, build stronger, healthier, happier communities and create better places to live.  Our Vision is to enrich everyone’s life through plants, and make the UK a Greener and more beautiful place.
The Social Media Manager is a pivotal role within a busy and dynamic Communications Team.  The role reports into the Director of Communications.  The Social Media Manager is responsible for creating, and leading on the delivery of, the Communications Strategy for all of the RHS’ social media channels.  This involves managing several social media platforms and engaging and interacting with over half a million followers to excite and inform about the RHS’ diverse work and £160 million investment programme.

The Social Media Manager will need to work with colleagues and teams across the RHS, including Marketing, Public Relations, Internal Communications, Public Affairs, Horticulture, Shows, Science, Gardens and Estates, to plan and coordinate social media activities to further build awareness of the RHS and its work.
Looking after the Social Media for the world’s most famous flower show, RHS Chelsea Flower Show, provides extensive exciting opportunities, but expect to be busy during May!
You will have one direct report who is the Social Media Executive, who you will need to enthuse, motivate, support and direct.
We are looking for a self-motivated and experienced Social Media professional with excellent writing, presentation, organisation, project management and communication skills.
You will be excited about the opportunity to make your mark on a charity’s digital output in an exciting time at the RHS, bringing creative ideas and a forward-looking strategy to take the RHS’ social media to the next level. You will have a strong attention to detail, demonstrable ability to produce written materials to an excellent standard, love organising and working with a number of complex projects, and be flexible as new challenges arise. You will be experienced managing several stakeholders, with very different requirements and in a range of departments.  You will also be an excellent and caring manager who is used to supporting and encouraging both direct reports and wider colleagues.
