Shift Engineer - The Ned, New OpeningPOSITION: Shift EngineerREPORTING TO: Engineering SupervisorROLE BASED: The Ned, Poultry, London Hotel Overview Located on Poultry Street, this new hotel is one of the most exciting upcoming openings by Soho House and Co. The new project is a joint venture with Sydell group, a US hotel developer. We’re developing a Grade I listed building in the heart of the City to become a destination hotel with over 250 bedrooms. The hotel will have a gym, Cowshed spa as well as 9 restaurants, bars and extensive event spaces. There will also be member’s facilities, where members can enjoy the rooftop pool or in the member’s club.The Role Keep all equipment in good repair providing day-to-day maintenance of the hotel. Complete maintenance work orders from all departments on a timely basis by following hotels standard operating procedures. Work towards and support the improvement of engineering service to guests, other departments and colleagues. Work within a shift Rota providing the hotel with 24-hour cover. What are We are looking forTo successfully fulfil this role, you will have electrical, mechanical or trade qualification. You will have current or previous experience as shift engineer in a similar environment. Main Responsibilities• Respond and attend to guest repair requests.• Understand and operate electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, and water systems.• Communicate with different departments and to provide them with information and assistance.• Check for new maintenance requests from the PMS (Property Management System) and update remarks once the task is completed.• Ability to prioritise and organise work assignments.• Ability to work under pressure situations and exercise good judgements.• Ability to focus attention on details, speed and accuracy.• Ability to maintain confidentiality of hotel guests and pertinent hotel information.• Ability to ensure the security of guest room access and hotel property.• Ability to read and understand test equipment, measuring devices, and safety manuals.• Perform maintenance activities in the guest rooms and public areas including electrical equipment, plumbing and Air conditioning.• Program TV's and perform general housekeeping and engineering-related inventory duties.• Test, troubleshoot and perform basic repair on all types of equipment.• To be available for any emergencies and act in an engineering capacity to protect guests and associates, and preserve the building and its systems during the emergency.• To monitor fire Alarm / Life Safety System systems as necessary, to be fully informed of the system operation and to handle emergencies involving the systems.• Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed. • Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional, maintain confidentiality of proprietary information, and protect company assets.• Train and instruct other members of the staff through sharing of knowledge and skills. • Performs other duties as assigned by Engineering Supervisor or Chief Engineer.We offer• One of the most competitive salaries in the industry.• 28 paid holidays per annum inclusive of bank holidays• Complimentary meals on duty• Annual staff events• Discounted rates at The Ned• Fantastic career growth opportunities.
