Senior Payroll Officer Needed

Job Summary: A current DBS is required for this role.
- Work as part of a team ensuring accurate payrolls are produced to defined deadlines.
- Adhering to Statutory/ Terms and Conditions, requiring extensive knowledge and interpretation in all these areas along with the Trust’s computer system.
- Validate and process complex contractual changes for new starters and current employees.
- Complete complex calculations, responding to enquiries and providing advice when required.
- Validate and process temporary payment transactions eg overtime, unsocial hours, locum payments, waiting list initiative payments,  travel and subsistence claims etc and also absence reporting.
- Maintain the establishment structure on ESR in accordance with budgetary changes notified by finance managers.
- Responsible for the Training of payroll officers/payroll assistants to ensure work is performed in accordance with changes in Trust and legislative requirements and best practice.
- Supervise Payroll Officers/Payroll Assistants.  Responsibility for ensuring the workload assigned to Payroll Officers/Assistants is completed accurately and on time.
- Process staff payments accurately and completely in accordance with terms and conditions of employment and Trust procedures and in compliance with extant legislation.

- Investigate and give advice on payroll queries.
- Complete work in accordance with published payroll and statutory deadlines.
- Promote and ensure client confidentiality.
- Provide advice to managers and staff on payroll requirements

- To maintain an up-to-date knowledge and understanding of all payroll processes and procedures, including current terms of service both national and those determined locally, income tax and NI calculations, statutory payments, deductions and earnings attachment orders.
- To provide training to Payroll officers and Payroll Assistants on all aspects of workload including knowledge on Trust Policies and Procedures.
- Responsible for the workload of Payroll officers/Payroll assistants and ensuring work is performed in accordance with changes in Trust and legislative requirements and best practice.
- To organise and prioritise workload ensuring strict deadlines are adhered to.  Ensuring timely and accurate payment of salaries.
- To ensure both statutory and non-statutory deductions are processed in line with relevant legislation and Trust policies/procedures.
