Our client is a large logistics company and they are looking for someone to join their busy night shift dealing with all aspects of daily Export Operations, from the moment a job is created, processing and monitoring through to its arrival
at destination.
This will include preparation and booking of Airway bills, checking flight details are correct, creating customs declarations for non EU shipments, to include NCTS entries. Use of a variety of I.T systems, external communication with service providers and internal communications within the network and other UK departments. From time to time, the role will include helping out in the warehouse with deliveries of packaging material and shipment processing when required.
Duties Include:
- Operation/Use of I.T systems: World-STAR, Opti View, Op-STAR and SharePoint
- Operation / use of external I.T systems.
- External communication with service providers.
- Internal communications within the company's network and other UK departments.
- Preparation and completion of paperwork for export.
- Checking shipments have had freight charges applied – wherever applicable.
- Liaising with Airlines to ascertain the whereabouts of missing cargo.
- Post-fighting - in absence of the office junior.
- Specialist export of goods through a variety of Government regulated bodies such as The Home Office, Cites, The Chamber of Commerce, DEFRA and HMRC.
- Customs entries involving procedures through ASM GEMS and CHIEF.
- Provide guidance to junior and support to senior staff.
- Strict adherence to numerous internal procedures both department specific and company specific, the latter being defined by SOPs and Ops memos.
This role may also, from time to time include the following:
- Shipment handling including loading and unloading of freight.
- Preparation of shipments for export, to include Topping up of dry ice, gel pack replenishment, marking and labeling.
- Monitoring of A/S flashes.
- Checking dangerous goods notes.
