Zack is a happy, engaging and intelligent 5 year old boy with a willingness and ability to learn. He has a gorgeous and articulate 2 year old sister called Ada, and the two get on very well together. Zack is autistic and has made a lot of progress in the last two years. He has settled into mainstream primary school well, and the family are keen for his development to continue so are looking for a SEN Nanny who has hands on ASD experience.
Until the age of two Zack was non-verbal, but with an intensive speech therapy programme he has made brilliant progress. Cognitively Zack is very able. His reading, writing and maths skills are strong, but he sometimes struggles with comprehension and inference. He is developing his social skills, but needs support to initiate talk or play with peers. The primary focus for the SEN Nanny will be to develop his learning potential and support social interaction with peers, rather than managing challenging behaviours.
The role will involve sometimes working with both children, and at times just with either Zack or Ada. The family are keen to find someone who can play with and help both children develop a mix of familiar activities and also introducing them to new experiences. There is a huge emphasis on encouraging social skills through setting up and facilitating play dates and encouraging the development of ideas and imagination. There will be lots of opportunity to take the children out to museums, parks, classes, and generally explore the great outdoors!
This position would really suit someone who can bring an abundance of energy and imagination, but who is also calm, patient and forward thinking. Mum and Dad are very receptive to new ideas and are hoping a fresh pair of eyes will bring different strategies.
You must be happy to work as part of a team; there will be close collaboration with the family, as well as liaising with the LSA and supporting the learning and strategies identified by school and the therapists. The overall objective is to work together to ensure that both children are happy and learning.
Please note, whilst Snap endeavour to reply to all applications, some of our positions are so popular this is not possible and only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
