Organic Life is the brand of a family run organic farm in Sri Lanka. We produce tea, spices, dried fruits, and coconut products. We started off at Borough market 5 years ago as a small tea producer and have since been able to grow our offer to include a range that reflects all the crops we harvest on the island!

The job :
We are currently looking for a sales assistant (with potential for promotion to assistant manager) for our outdoor market stall at Borough Market. We are hiring for part-time role between Monday to Saturday with variable hours. Exacting shifts will be discussed in the interview and with the market manager before the beginning of each month.
At the stall you will be working with a passionate and small team of one to two people, depending on the day, and will be serving and interacting with customers.
Wages will start at £8.00 per hour (£7.50/hr for 18-21 years old and £7/hr for under 18s) with daily bonuses offered if sales target is achieved.

Role responsibilities:

Setting up stall in the morning, displaying products as directed.
Closing stall down at the end of the day, including cashing up.
Guiding customers through our range of products and making suggestions based on their individual palates.
Preparing samples for customers
Preparing takeaway tea

Person specification
The right person for the job will :

Have a positive and friendly attitude
Be responsible, tidy, able to follow instructions, and attentive to detail.
Enjoy drinking tea and have a strong interest in learning more about various types of teas and Sri Lanka (don't worry - we will provide training on all our products, but you must like tea)
Have an interest in organics and environmentally friendly practices.

Skills and experience required:

Excellent customer service and sales skills.
Great communication skills (must enjoy chatting with customers)
Proven ability to work in a team
High fluency in English
experience of working in a similar role/sector would be beneficial.
Physical skills to set-up/set-down stall and push trolley.
Basic arithmetic skills (for giving change and end of day cashing up)
