Sales and Events Manager Overview of the Role The role of the Sales and Events Manager is to maximize the prebooked sales of the venue, by developing strategic sales action plans, that are specifically designed to deliver the prebooked sales targets of the venue, which in turn support the achievement of the total sales and profit targets of the venue. Reporting Lines Direct – solid reporting line to General Manager of the venue. Strategic – dotted reporting line to Area Sales and Events Manager. Direct Reports – Sales and Events Executives (where applicable).Hours45 hours, to suit the needs of the business, occasionally involving evening and weekend work. Personal Characteristics The Sales and Events Manager will be fully versed in all manner of prebooked sales, proficient at dealing with reactive enquires, and also naturally proactive, seizing every sales opportunity and ensuring maximum ‘enquiry to booking’ conversion levels. They will also have excellent presentation skills, a keen eye for detail, be skilled at writing proposals and confident in negotiating with all levels of customer. Their approach to work will be positive, flexible and collaborative. Personal RequirementsA minimum of 2 years’ sales and events experience in the hospitality industry. experience of creating, implementing and delivering a sales and events plan to achieve prebooked sales targets. Demonstration of the ability to grow prebooked sales, from consumer parties to corporate events. Proficient in all areas of social media, with good understanding of the importance of digital sales and the levers to positively influence these. Strong administrative and IT skills and knowledge of widely-used booking platforms within the industry. Responsibilities• Create and execute a sales and events business plan for the venue, based on the area strategy, detailing clear targets and objectives for oneself and the sales team.• Maximize prebooked sales for the venue, driving all aspects of consumer and corporate sales (including corporate events, restaurant bookings, birthdays, social parties, Christmas parties). • Achieve and exceed prebooked sales targets, as determined by the sales, marketing and operations departments.• Assist the General Manager in achieving overall business objectives, recognising at all times the need to grow additional profitable sales, and not cannibalise existing trade.• Effectively use all sales tools to drive prebooked sales, reactively and proactively generating manual and digital sales.• Manage the Sales and Events Executives, providing direction, training and support, and providing clear targets against agreed KPIs.• Assist in the recruitment of Sales and Events Executives and create a ‘talent-bank’. • Attend regular sales and events meetings, as required by the Area Sales Manager, presenting sales performance updates, forthcoming sales plans and individual sales team member performance. • Manage the venue’s corporate customer database and identify opportunities to grow the venue’s share of their sales and events budget.• Manage the venue’s social media channels and ensuring output is appropriate to the venue’s customer base.• Ensure smooth delivery of events through effectively liaising with all other departments within the venue. • Be responsible for gathering customer feedback, to ensure repeat business and increased frequency of visit.• Attend networking events, raising the profile of both oneself and the venue within the local community.• Perform client show rounds, articulating the USPs of the venue and providing excellent customer service. • Meet and greet clients for key events.• Plan and deliver showcase events ensuring attendance of important customers such as event bookers, PAs and key corporate customers.• Develop a long-term sales and events plan, to continually drive focus on key calendar events such as Christmas.• Continually build and validate a database of consumers and corporate customers, setting appropriate data capture targets • Continually be aware of competitor activity and offers and ensure the venue can compete effectively.• Manage the venue’s Collins CRM system, adhering to the agreed sales and events process to ensure optimum management of customer enquiries, providing detailed sales analysis and accurate prebooked sales reporting• Understand the capabilities of other relevant venues within the ETM group, to ensure enquiries that can’t be accommodated, are referred to suitable alternatives and remain in the ETM group.• Be a positive, passionate, collaborative member of the venue team and the wider ETM group.
