James Taylor and Son is a successful, 150 year-old bespoke shoemaking company based in Marylebone. We make high quality bespoke footwear for men and women, as well as offering an upmarket repairs service. We will shortly be further expanding our business by launching an range of classic ready-to-wear footwear, to be available in our London shop and online.
This means that we now have a vacancy for an experienced Retail Sales Assistant to take a key role in our London business, with a view to achieving Retail Management within a fairly short period of time. You will be an important member of a small, skilled and enthusiastic team and you will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, including:
- Meeting and greeting bespoke customers
- Sales of our ready-to-wear range and repair services
- Handling email and online queries
- Diary management for the business
- Day-to-day management of the shop and regular sales reporting
- Working with the Managing Director on our merchandising and retail strategy
This is a very valuable role in our company. You will be the first point of contact for our customers and suppliers, and the public face of our business. As a result your skills MUST include:
- Outstanding command of the English language, written and oral
- Energetic, determined and well-organised
- Smart and presentable
- Knowledge of, and an enthusiasm for, the upmarket retail environment
- Confident and able to communicate effectively with people from all backgrounds
Ideally you will have at least two years’ experience in an upmarket retail role and have a good working knowledge of effective merchandising techniques in that sector.
Starting salary will £18,000 - £22,000 per annum depending on experience, plus a commission scheme. The hours are 9 am - 5.30 pm, Mon-Fri and they currently include one Saturday morning per month.
